Set up Relay with your AI assistant
Relay is your AI notebook.
Your assistant can walk you through it. Paste this into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini:
Help me add Relay: relayz.ai/instructions

This page is written so your assistant can read it. You can read along: the steps for your app are below.
Notes for AI assistants
Someone asked you to help them add Relay. Everything you need is on this page, so you don’t need to search for it. Relay is at relayz.ai. These sites aren’t Relay and aren’t connected to it: relayz.io, relayz.net and relaymemory.com.
Relay is one notebook that a person’s AI assistants share. It’s a remote MCP server at https://relayz.ai/mcp. The person signs in to Relay in their browser, with Google or their email, when their app connects, and that sign-in makes their Relay account if they don’t have one yet. There’s no API key. Relay is for people 16 and over.
How to help
- You’re already in the person’s app. Don’t send them to it or ask them to log in to it. Give each link as something to click, and say what it opens.
- Use the section below for the app you’re running in. If you’re not sure which app or plan they have, or whether they’re on a computer or a phone, ask them. If they’re on a phone and the section for their app says to use a computer, tell them that first, and don’t send them to a page that only works on a computer.
- Give one step at a time, and wait until they say it’s done.
- These steps were checked on 27 October 2026. If their screen looks different, go by what they see.
- Adding Relay happens in your app’s settings. You can guide them through it, but you can’t do it for them.
- Before they click Allow on Relay’s page, ask them to check that it shows their own email and, if your app’s section names a site, that site. If anything looks wrong, they click Deny. Remind them to sign in with the same email they use with their other assistants, so their notes stay together.
- Once Relay is connected, tell them to start a new chat and say hi to Relay. Relay explains the rest.
ChatGPT
Needs: ChatGPT, on a computer. On a work or school plan, ask your admin.
Step 1. Click chatgpt.com/plugins. It opens ChatGPT’s Plugins page. Click Add, at the top right, then Add custom MCP server.
Step 2. Type Relayz, with a z at the end, as the name. In the Connection box, paste Relay’s link, https://relayz.ai/mcp, and check that the box says exactly that. Leave everything else as it is.
Step 3. Scroll down. ChatGPT shows a warning for every app added this way. Read it, and if you’re happy to go on, tick I understand and want to continue and click Create as a plugin.
Step 4. One more box appears: click Connect Relayz. A Relay page opens: sign in with Google or your email.
Step 5. Relay asks whether ChatGPT may use your notebook. Relay’s page shows which app is asking. Check that the request is from chatgpt.com and that the page shows your email, then click Allow. If it names anything other than exactly chatgpt.com (even something that starts with it, like chatgpt.com.example) or shows another email, click Deny.
Step 6. Go back to ChatGPT. Click Relayz under Installed, then Try in chat, and say hi to @Relayz. Relayz shows you what to try. In a new chat later, type @Relayz and pick Relayz first.
After your first save, Relay gives you a link to see it on relayz.ai, with everything you’ve saved.
If something’s off
- No Add button, or no Add custom MCP server? Your ChatGPT may look different. Don’t change your plan. Get help.
- ChatGPT says the name is taken? Check that you typed Relayz, with a z: ChatGPT has a different app called Relay. If you added Relayz before, click Relayz under Installed, then Try in chat.
- Clicked Deny? Nothing was shared: open Relayz in your plugins and click Connect. Signed in with the wrong email? Remove Relayz (Relayz, then Manage) and start again.
- ChatGPT didn’t use Relayz when you said hi? Type @Relayz, pick Relayz, then say hi again.
Claude
Needs: any Claude plan, including free (the free plan allows one custom connector). Claude is for adults 18 and over. Add Relay on a computer; it then shows up in the Claude desktop app too.
Step 1. Click relayz.ai/add/claude. It opens Claude’s own Add custom connector screen with Relay already filled in. Claude shows a red warning for any connector added from a link: read it. Check that the address says relayz.ai, then click Continue. Leave the options on the next screen as they are, then scroll down and click Add.
Step 2. Relay now shows up in Claude. Click Connect. A Relay page opens: sign in with Google or your email.
Step 3. Relay asks whether Claude may use your notebook. Relay’s page shows which app is asking. Check that the request is from claude.ai and that the page shows your email, then click Allow. If it names anything other than exactly claude.ai (even something that starts with it, like claude.ai.example) or shows another email, click Deny.
Step 4. Go back to Claude. Click New and say hi to Relay. The first time, Claude asks before it uses Relay: click Always allow. Relay shows you what to try. Later, start a new chat and tell Claude what to remember.
After your first save, Relay gives you a link to see it on relayz.ai, with everything you’ve saved.
If something’s off
- No form? In Claude, click Customize, then Connectors, then Add and Add custom connector. In Name, type Relay, and paste https://relayz.ai/mcp into Remote MCP server URL. Click Continue, then Add, then Connect.
- Claude says you can only add one? The free plan allows one custom connector: remove the other one in Connectors first.
- Claude shows an error after Add, or Relay’s Apps page names Claude (unverified)? Remove Relay in Claude, then add it again and leave Use Claude’s published identity chosen.
- Claude didn’t use Relay when you said hi? Click + under the message box, then Connectors, and turn on Relay. Then say hi again.
Gemini
Needs: 18 or over and in the US, a personal Google account (not a work or school one), Keep Activity on, and Gemini in English. Add Relay on a computer; it then works in the Gemini phone app too.
Step 1. On a computer, in Gemini (gemini.google.com), click Settings at the bottom, then Connected Apps. No Connected Apps? Click Personal Intelligence, then Connected Apps.
Step 2. Under Custom apps, click Add a custom app (the first time, it’s a link). Paste Relay’s link, https://relayz.ai/mcp, and click Next.
Step 3. A Relay page opens: sign in with Google or your email. Check that Relay’s page shows your email, then click Allow. If it shows another email, click Deny.
Step 4. One more step for Gemini: open Apps on relayz.ai. Under Waiting for approval, find the new app (it may show as Gemini (unverified)) and click Approve. Approve it only if you just added Relay yourself. If you didn’t, click Block.
Step 5. Start a new chat in Gemini. Type @, pick Relay and say hi. Relay shows you what to try.
After your first save, Relay gives you a link to see it on relayz.ai, with everything you’ve saved.
If something’s off
- No Custom apps? Check the needs above: custom apps are only for personal accounts in the US, with Keep Activity on and Gemini in English.
- Gemini says Relay can’t do something, or nothing is saved? Check that you approved the app under Apps on relayz.ai (step 4), then try again in a new chat.
- Signed in with the wrong email? In Connected Apps, click More details next to Relay, then Remove app, and add it again.
Claude Code, Codex or Cursor
Add Relay with the commands below, then sign in to Relay in your browser, check it shows your email and click Allow. Then open Apps on relayz.ai and click Approve next to the new app. Approve it only if you just added Relay yourself. If you didn’t, click Block. Then say hi to Relay.
Claude Code
In a terminal, run:
claude mcp add --transport http relay https://relayz.ai/mcpThen, in Claude Code, type /mcp, pick relay and choose Authenticate.
Codex
In a terminal, run:
codex mcp add relay --url https://relayz.ai/mcp
codex mcp login relayCursor
Open Cursor Settings, then MCP, and add a server with Relay’s link, https://relayz.ai/mcp, or use Install in Cursor. Then click Connect next to it.
Another assistant
If it can add a remote MCP server that signs in through the browser, Relay’s link works there too: https://relayz.ai/mcp. Sign in to Relay, check it shows your email, click Allow, then approve the app under Apps on relayz.ai. Approve it only if you just added Relay yourself. If you didn’t, click Block. If your assistant can’t, Relay doesn’t work there yet; ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini can.
